When Prince William proposed Kate Middleton and when Kris Humphries expressed his love to Kim Kardashian they did not know what lied ahead of their love proposals. Everyone is talking today of not their love or their marriage but about their rings. Grapewine has it, that their rings are more talked about than even Pippa Middleton’s sunbathing pictures that created a big controversy last week. Kim Kardashian's engagement ring which was given to her by her fiancé Kris Humphries is worth $2 million. Isn’t that too much of an amount to spend on a ring; something that might be “Just a ring” after a year or so. It is a big gaudy ring having a 16.5-carat emerald cut diamond in the center of two 2-carat trapezoid shaped stones, totalling 20.5 carats of 'the highest clarity and color. While Kim Kardashian now wears a 20.5 carat piece in her ring finger, Kate Middleton's 18-carat sapphire seems to have got lost from the limelight.
Kate’s ring as we know belongs to Williams mother Princess Diana. Giving Kate this ring was Williams way of making his mother a part of everything that she is missing. It was the ring that William carried for about three weeks in Africa before proposing Kate Middleton in Kenya. Kate Middleton’s ring is made the way any Royal bride’s ring would be. Kim Kardashian however got her ring in the filmiest way. Kim, walked into her bedroom to find Kris Humphries kneeling on her floor with “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” spelled out in rose petals, holding a massive diamond ring worth half the value of the house this all took place in.
Though Kim Kardashian wins as her ring is a wonderful 20.5 carat piece much more expensive than Kate’s but just to tell all those who might not know the fact well that Sapphire is a rarer stone than Diamonds and is valued much higher.
