You name it and Queen Latifah is doing it. There is absolutely nothing that she hasn’t laid her hands on. Queen Latifah is a queen in the true sense of the word. She has a HSN clothing and lifestyle line, called the Queen Collection, on sale this August. She also has her hair extensions, also in partnership with HSN and available this fall for everyone. She is also recording a live album and is hoping to release by the end of the year. Joyful Noise, an uplifting flick co-starring Dolly Portan and scheduled for release by January 2012. If all this was not all, she also has a new series on VH1 called Single Ladies, premiering Monday (9 p.m. ET/PT). She is producing this series through her company called Flavor Unit Entertainment.
All this is absolutely not bad for a woman who had decided to quit working last year. She has outdone any multitasked person. Her talents seem to have over flown in all the arenas. Beginning all these ventures at the age of 41 is an inspiration for many. "I'm just really optimistic about what we're doing. The irons in the fire will pay later, but they require the dedication now", she says. To someone who was sure on retiring in 40 , all this is commendable to come at 41.
Queen Latifah is particularly proud of Single Ladies, VH1's first scripted series starring her. It's a more urban form of Sex and the City. “Single ladies” focuses on three best friends (Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy, and Charity Shea) and their lives. Queen Latifah has a few appearances in the series. It draws inspiration from real life and the ladies talk about mature things in the series. The show talks about virile women who have emotions and desires, and they will be out there looking, but they'll do it on their own terms. Queen Latifah, she can be goofy and silly but she is a darn genius when it comes to work. She is totally focused and knows the bottom-line. Queen Latifah knows her heart. She runs Flavor Unit Entertainment with her partner, the production company that released last year’s Just and 2005's Beauty Shop. Latifah got an Oscar nomination for 2002's star-studded musical Chicago. Queen Latifah proudly calls herself a brand and if very opens to everyone. Though she isn’t airy but is the best.
